Do I have to adapt my dancing technique?
You will notice 2 major differences:
1. The toes suddenly have a lot of space. Your toes feel relaxed, free, and more grounded. It will need a few dances to get used to the extra space, especially when stepping close to the partner. But after a few dancing sessions you are fully ready to cruise over the dance floor!
2. The shoe does not have a feel, which can feel different. It requests that your body aligns differently, extending the whole back side of the body more. Eventually, you will feel more naturally aligned and grounded.
I tend to sweat... How hot does it get? Are they breathable?
The Sneaker is made of natural leather instead and high-tech microfiber suede lining with very good breathability properties.
How does the sole behave?
The sole is a suede leather outsole for dancing. Suede is a leather with a rough surface which give grip on the floor but allows for turning at the same time. The sole become more smooth and slippery over time, and can be roughend up again using a brush made for this purpose.
Can I wear them with insoles?
While there is no insole to take out, some customers report placing their insoles in the shoes without problem. If your insoles fit comfortably depends on the volume of your feet. If you have normal to narrow feet, it will not be a problem.
Where are they produced?
Barefoot Classic is produced in a small factory in Portugal by a very friendly and dedicated team which I (Mona) go visit regularly.
Does the leather give in?
Yes. If the shoe sits tight on a certain spot, the shoes will start giving in within the first hours of dancing and throughout the weeks you dance in them.
I have very wide feet. Will they fit?
Our shoes have a normal fit. Depending no how wide your feet are, you will feel pressure on the side which will release as the shoe and leather adapts. We don't recommend our shoes to people with very wide feet.
I have very narrow feet. Will they fit?
If you have narrow feet or feet with low instep, the shoe will sit slightly more loose on the sides. If you have very slim or low volume feet, then they will feel loose; in this case they might move too much around the foot for you to dance comfortably.
I have a pronounced hallux bone. Will they fit?
If your hallux bone has a strong outward protrusion then the sneaker design might apply some pressure on it. In this case, we recommend the design Classic.
Do you offer other colors as well?
We might offer special color editions on pre-order at some point. This would be announced via newsletter to those who receive it.
